There might be several reasons, from not Enough space on the disc,to a Driver or Bios incompartibility.

It seems to be a Software problem, the technician possibly will not take any new hardware parts to fix it,except if there is something else that causes this problem(example:a corrupt hard disc or an old hardware incompartible with your System....).So the price might vary......:)

The easiest and fastest way to solve this problem is to run a registry cleaner software. A registry cleaner can eliminate errors in your record. This record stores all information about the software, drivers, applications and games that are installed on your computer. And in time, it can get bad, because some obsolete entries are not deleted and can lead to what they call the "errors". By using a registry cleaner http://perfect-your-computer.com/index1.htm the errors can be eradicated and increases the speed of your computer in the process. Registry cleaners work by scanning each file and then checking to see if it's corrupt or causing problems. If they find that it is broken, the registry cleaner will replace or fix the file for you to make your computer become free of errors. In addition, the errors will not happen if you regularly check and care for your computer system.

Nothing if you reinstall windows. You can do that from your recovery disc if you have one or the windows disc its self.

You may need to do a bios update as well. You can get information on how to do that from the dell website. Its not hard to do. And that, like reinstalling windows, is free .. if you do it yourself.

And yes, you should always back up your files. You can do that for free if its only documents. I recommend only backing up documents anyways. All your programs you should reinstall from the cds or download new versions. You can just put your documents in a .zip and then upload that. Do a search on free file hosting .. there are a lot that will let you temporarily store you your files.

best thing to do is to get a hard drive to usb converter cable so you can get your files off the hard drive and just buy a new computer. it would be a whole lot cheaper. about 150 dollars cheaper pending on what computer you buy.

If it is just the software Twenty pound is enough to reinstall the operating system.
