hi all i recently got a new gaming pc which i play all games on max settings. the other day my ambient case temp went up to 43C, so i decided to install the programme speedfan. to monitor gpu amd cpu temps. it then said thats my cpu temp(just after playing a game) was at 87C (188F) ???!! i then thought something was wrong with speed fan(it even had a little flame next to the temp) .i then downloaded CPUID monitor and once again temps were between 85 - 88C! my cpu fan is running 100% (2262rpm) cpu idling is 38C(100F)
this is my rig
intel i7 870 @ 2.93
4 gb ram ddr3 1333mhz
intel h55 mobo
1TB internal and 1TB external
msi nvidia gtx 460 1Gb
A-open case (not to sure what model)
585w gigabyte psu

Either the fan isn't working properly, or you've got a very bad airflow in your case.

I would check the specifications of that cpu and see what the maximum temp can be. It must be pretty high, if it hasn't shut down your computer yet. Cpus have a built in trip, or should have, and when that temp is reached, it shuts down. This is an Intel, so I am not sure what the max is.

Go to the Intel web site and see the temperature data sheets on this particular cpu.

Also, you probably need better cooling. The A Open case might not have sufficient cooling, and also, your cpu cooling might need to be upgraded.

For less then the cost of a new processor, cooling upgrades would be cheaper and save your cpu.

except you upward push as much as heats over ninety 5°C you need to be fantastic, do you overclock? those temps are very extreme for a sparkling equipment. you ought to purchase a pci fan to relax your GPU much greater or in simple terms plug a fan next on your open case, it is going to save the dirt out (which clogs the followers) and decrease the temp on your total case. Edit: do no longer difficulty taking the cpu and warmth-sink (or fan) out, because of the fact it is a sparkling workstation the thermal compound is fantastic and the cpu is unquestionably seated, or it won't even paintings.

Thermal Paste for the cpu. :), worked for me, for your PC Tower I suggest looking into extension fans.
