i cannot access my USB device even though its been detected by the computer?

the problem is, my usb device is not working properly. every time i plug a device in the usb prot, it detects the device but the problem is that i cant access it... the usb drive is nowhere in the my computers window... i dont know how to access the device... plz help me out if u can...

i would check the device manager to make sure it showing proberly installed their, eg press the windows key(key between alt and ctrl) and pause/break

then choose hardware and device manager, if it has a yellow (!) right click and choose update driver and follow the prompts.

if it shows ok, then their is a problem with your windows itself
