I use IntelBurnTest, it gets my CPU pretty hot. 52 degrees @2.2GHz on 1.15 volts. Room temp 19 degrees C.
I was wondering is there a stress testing software that gets your CPU even hotter than burn test does. I reallly want to check out how much my new heatsink can take.

Prime 95. Also 52 degree C is not bad for a cpu. Mine Q6600 would idel around 40C. I have hit beyond 70C will no issues or no concern with damage. But something to keep in mind, is that heat destroys electronics, and you're computer will actually slow down due to heat.

If you are worried about it, upgrade the heat sink on your cpu. Air cooling is fine, unless you are doing some heavy overclocking

specific, in case you have had it a year, you could could sparkling the dirt out, overheating could reason the cpu to close down(sparkling out the means furnish of dirt besides). in case you dont have compressed air, a vacuum suction hose will paintings in simple terms besides. do this first, if the situation persists then seek for different reasons(spyware, viruses, and so on) you additionally can attempt wiping the troublesome stress and reinstalling abode windows.

Prime95 has a pretty brutal stress test that can run for 12hrs if needed.
