I need help with my Wacom CTE-640?

Okay, so, I got this second hand Wacom CTE-640 tablet from my dad. It's in average shape, but that's not the problem. From what I've heard, these tablets should have pressure sensitivity when on programs like Photoshop and stuff. I have Photoshop CS6, and I have been trying the tablet out on it lately, but it has no pressure sensitivity, and none of the buttons on the pen that came with the tablet do anything. It basically just works like a mouse, and nothing else. Why is this?
This is all I have done: I plugged it into a usb port in my computer. That's it. What else should I have done? Is there a driver I need to install?
Oh, and I use Windows 8.

You can get the drivers from Wacom here: http://www.wacom.eu/index4.asp?pid=29&lang=en

Your Wacom graphics tablet is a Wacom Graphire 4.

Don't install the drivers from the CD that came with the tablet. They'll likely be extremely out dated. The graphire 4 is an old tablet.

I have a graphire2 and while I didn't have your exact problem, Photoshop sometimes didn't register the amount of pressure I was pushing on the tablet (so all the lines were the same thickness). Unplugging and replugging in the tablet helped. You might also want to try to restart your computer if you haven't since the driver update.

Yes , of course you need to install the drivers.

Without that how would the PC know what features your pointing device has. Install the drivers from the cd or download the latest one from wacom's website.
