Problem 1, I know my CD/DVD player works, But it won't auto start when I put a disk into it anymore, I recently got a virus removed from my computer when I got it back the computer worked fine with the internet, The only problem now is that the CD/DVD drive won't auto start like it used to, I click on it and it won't start it up, It opens into the files, How can I get it to auto play it again like it used to ?

Problem 2, And another problem I have is when I plug something into the USB port it the automatic little pop up used to pop up with the ding telling me a new software has been added and then would click it to install the hardware for it, I hear the ding but I don't see the little bubble in the corner for I can install the hardware for it, I made sure the pop up was not being blocked and it is not, How can I fix it so I can see the pop up bubble again so I can install the USB stuff ?

I get the feeling like there is just some settings that I can't find so this stuff will work again ?

For problem 1, do this:

1. Right-click the drive and select Properties.

2. Click the AutoPlay tab.

3. In the top list box, select Music CD.

4. Click the Select an Action to perform radio button.

5. Click Play Audio CD. There may be several options for different CD players on your machine. Choose the one you like.

6. Click Apply.

7. Again in the top list box, select DVD Movie.

8. Again, click the Select An Action to Perform radio button.

9. Again, click which application you want to pen the DVD.

10. Click OK.

Hope that helps.

For problem #2, it's probably because the device is already installed in your computer.

Problem #1, you need to go to MyComputer, and right click and probably click Open With?

Then it will display the dialog, what you want to do whenever media is inserted. You can have, "view pictures", "watch movie", or "open with windows explorer" so you can view the files. If you can't find that under my computer, double click your CD/DVD drive. If a cd with music is in, right click a file, and do the tihng I told you above this ^^

To change how your computer handles multimedia content

Open My Computer.

Under Devices with Removable Storage, right-click the device you want, such as a digital camera or CD-ROM drive, and then click Properties.

On the AutoPlay tab, click the multimedia content type you want to change.

Under Actions, click the action you want Windows to perform when it detects the media type you selected.

USB can be tricky to fix

If you have your motherboard/chipset driver disk

Use it to reinstall the USB 2.0 drivers or find them at your pc mfgr support/downloads webpage

Or go to device manager and click the + in front of Universal Serial Bus Controller and double click on the Root Hubs and delete them - just the root hubs leave everything else as is

reboot and try a usb device again
