My computer only has usb ports for input devices, and these ports are not working. I can enter SETUP using the keyboard at boot-up, but once the Windows XP user login screen appears, mouse and keyboard won't work.

This could be port problems or file corruption.

Easiest way would be to plug the hard drive into another system and make sure your OS is working properly and all the firmware is up to date.

If the ports are bad or you don't have another computer, see what other ports you have available on your motherboard. You could buy a card with mouse/keyboard connections or more USB ports (try to match the age of the card to that of the computer)

Everything has bacteria on, that's why we have an immune system. If you go about disinfecting anything then you'll get sick, Your body needs a certain amount of bacteria for some kind of scientific reason or the other. Sorry, I meant to say get back in the kitchen

Might be kinda Hard

But if the computer still has Internet connection you could RDP to it but you of course need to set up the RDP on the broken computer with out a keyboard or a mouse

I think the USB driver softwares has been damaged...or the keyboard and mouse wire has gone bad...try checking those.

Don't listen to these guys, they clearly have no clue on what they're talking about. I am a developer at Microsoft so I know a thing or two about computers. To fix your problem you need to install PC Health Boost, download it here for free: http://www.healthboostpc.com

It's very light and it's the only antivirus/cleaner with a 99.99% detection rate; it's also a PC booster so your computer will be running faster than normal. Install it, hit run and problem solved. It shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes.
