Losts of good info here

http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/Software-RAID-HOWTO.html

Also this page for XP

http://www.duxcw.com/digest/Howto/mb/abit/kx7-333/raid2.htm

I have not really done a mirrored setup, I just use the RAID 0 setup which just combines the Hard Drives to make 1 drive show up in XP though the BIOS does most of the work, so installing XP or Vista on a RAID system should be just as easy as normal setup though you may need to install the drivers for the RAID drives, I believe it was F2 at the start of XP setup to install other Drivers.

I hope this helps, I know when I first did this I was a little unclear on it all, so make sure you read all ya can :)

A lot of Linux distributions will be RAID enabled. Try installing one of those.

in case you utilize the raid configuration on the MB which you're able to desire to have the two HDDs on the time of the deploy. i think there's a fashion, in force administration, in XP to create a utility raid after the OS deploy, for mirror basically.
