Question:
HELP!! IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL blue screen of death!!?

my 900mhz desktop pc with windows xp sp2 has been chronically restarting for the past year or so..mostly at the windows loading screen. every time i switch on the pc it restarts about 5-10 times...and a blue screen immediately flashes before it restarts. but after it passes the windows loading screen it never used to restart, but recently it has restarted while in windows as well, but without the BSOD flashing, just a sudden restart.
Now the problem is, i formatted C drive in order to reinstall windows xp sp2 (which i have done twice in the past but havent really been able to get rid of the restarts).
now every time the pc starts, windows setup restarts but cannot proceed more than 5 minutes when the IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL BSOD appears again, but this time it stops at the BSOD and doest restart. i have to restart it manually, only for the same thing to happen over and over and over again. its really annoying that i cannot install windows because of this error. how am i ever going to install windows now?
i have checked simple things like RAM etc. what could be the culprit and how do i go about isolating/removing it??

Hi chitrani

i had that problem after uninstalling the xp2008antivirus trojen

even after reinstalling xp using the repair mode it even affected my bios to an extent when i would reboot it would hang on the bios screen for about one minute strange what i did was remove all my memory from there slots then remove the motherboard batterie as well that corrected my problem with the slow bios load

for you i would suggest removing your memory and MotherBoard Battery for about a minute then put them back, then remove all extra pci cards you have such as sound, ethernet, modems etc just leaving your video for install after xp installs good then reinstall your cards and let xp find them

there is not any uncomplicated answer to this question because it must be various issues. If it have been my pc i could take the abode windows XP disc and boot from the disc, then restoration your contemporary setting up, there is in all probability something snarled on your boot sector on your annoying force and that should restoration it. If not then attempt and do a clean format and reinstall XP. If all else fails its maximum in all probability a foul annoying force. yet your superb wager is to repair your working equipment which contain your XP disc. Mike

This error code is a CPU( processor) problem. It is overheating or is going bad. When this happens, it misclocks and you receive a blue screen of death with this code. Check the heatsink, to see if the fan is working, or if it seated properly. If you have to, remove it, re-grease and put it back. If nothing else works, replace the cpu itself.
