Right you need to format you HDD to make it work. It will come as new unformated. This is so that people can put them into a machine using any os and just format and go. Open up Computer management and go to Disk Management.

Now right click on ther new HDD and click on format. It will open a window asking you what you want to call the disc what file system you want on it sselect all theis you will be best off using NTFS and format the disc once its done then it will show up in your my computer

Control Pannel>Administrator Tools>Computer Managment>Disk Managment> Find The Harddrive You Have Inserted And Create A New partition.

the reason it cant find it is because the harddrive didnt have a partition e.g it wasnt formatted with any file system.

Yes. Go to Control Panel --> Administrative Tools --> Computer Management --> Disk management. You will see it there. All you need to do is to give your drive a file system such as NTFS by formatting it and assign it drive letter. Then it will be visible in your "My Computer" and ready to use.

Your ide drivers have been corrupted or your ide cables have long gone undesirable. replace the ide cables and be sure your jumpers are waiting to the two cable pick (cs) or grasp slave. With cs settings( or grasp ) be sure your boot confusing tension is on the conventional ide and is linked on the a methods end of the cable. The 250 hdd (cs or slave tension) is linked to the middle connecter of the cable on the conventional ide.The optical cd/dvd tension( cs or grasp is on the a methods end of the cable and plugged into the secondary ide. do no longer interchange cs or grasp slave on your gadget All could desire to be CS or All could desire to be grasp or Slave. Now to your application: There are nicely-known matters for ide controllers (mom board drivers) corruption once you install and uninstall cd/dvd replica application. Uninstall all replica and video appropriate application(that incorporates domicile windows media participant) / restart/run a solid registry cleanser/restart/ set up video drivers /restart/ as much as date mom board drivers/ restart/ set a gadget fix factor/ restart/( set up domicile windows media participant 10 no longer 11 as there are matters with 11)Then set up your replica application one by one between gadget restarts no count if or no longer they request it or no longer ! Set yet another gadget fix factor and your performed. by using configuring your cables in this form it forces the " controllers to act" Then restoring your drivers and alertness facilitates your drives to be allways detected and not disregarded.

My only guess is the jumper settings. I would try slave or secondary. Good luck.
