hey....it's easy
1. go to hp website - be sure to have an ant ivirus installed BEFORE going online...
2. click on support and drivers..
3. type in your model / serial number of the laptop and hit search or use the auto detect feature
4. it will then ask you what windows it came with....
5. it will then return you a listing of all the drivers that are for your system..scroll down the list till you see audio devices...click it then click on the softpaq number to begin the download.
6 alternative route- go online and click on chat with a hp tech- it's free.... they will be able to help you
7. if you reinstalled windows vista use the windows update feature and it should download it automatically along with all other necessary windows and driver updates for your pc to keep it tip top working order

The HP support website should have the audio drivers for your device.
http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html
If you can't find it there, try a driver finder program. That will match the audio device hardware id and can also find a compatible driver that maybe is not from HP.
