Either your hard drive is almost full or is damaged. Run the chkdsk /f twice and see if there are still errors that cannot be fixed.

if defrag isn't working it meens there is a problem with your hard disk. To fix this you must run check disk (chckdsk /f).
I sort of don't understand your question. Can you run check disk or is this what your asking? Does check disk run successfully and you still get this error when defraging?
try this, if you tell me what operating system you have that would help http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/tips/kbtip.mspx

If your disk does not have enough room it won't do it. Is it almost full? I assume that you did the check disk and right after tried the defrag?
I just ran this and at the end it said I did not need to be defragged. It took me 6 hours to run.

Use Defraggler instead of the defragmenter that comes with Windows. http://www.defraggler.com/
