I just upgraded my graphics card from a GTX 580 to a GTX 970. Everything was running perfectly until I decided to run some benchmark tests. A couple of minutes into the test, I got a notification that said my display driver stopped responding. I restarted my computer and this is what my desktop looked like

There are a bunch of green lines and all the words are unreadable. I disabled my graphics card and my desktop looked like this http://i.imgur.com/YCXZKw8.jpg
All the icons and words display as normal, however there are still faint horizontal lines. My driver is updated to the latest version. I connected another monitor to my PC and had the same issue, so I don t think my monitor is causing the problem. My PSU is a Corsair HX850W.
I m not sure what else I can try. Any help is appreciated.

You probably have a defective card...it looks like a VRAM issue (likely the first or second bank). You should just return the card and get another one...however, before that, you should make sure the problem is NOT your power supply and also check and see if you have "UEFI FASTBOOT" or "FASTBOOT" enabled in BIOS - if it is, disable it and see if it still happens. If it doesn't, then contact your card's manufacturer about a BIOS update that supports UEFI or leave UEFI off.

Boot up in safe mode if you have the same problem it's probably the graphics card.

Try taking out the new graphics card, and putting it back in.
