For example, I know I have a PCI slot in my computer. Does this mean I can use a PCI E graphic card? And is it possible I also have an AGP (because that would make life so much easier). I don't currently have a graphic card, just a controller on my mother board. I'm looking to get one to support the Sims 3 and I am trying to figure out what to get.
I need to know how to recognize if I have an AGP slot AND if I can use PCI E graphic cards.
Thanks!

all of em are diffrent. most computers made in the last id say 3 or 4 years use pci e if your computer is so old it doesnt have a pci e slot it would be better to get a new computer because all the graphics cards out now are PCI E

PCI is significantly older, and won't work with PCI-E.
