I have a XFX GeForce 8400 GS with 512 MB Ram . The Driver Version is 6.14.11.8160 NVidia ForceWare 181.60 . (The Bios String is displayed by Everest as Version 62.98.29.00.01 ) GPU CodeName - G98GS . The DirectX HardWare Support is displayed as DirectX V10 .

Question 1) Is this Card called a GPU ?

Question 2) This card is installed in a AMD Athalon 64 X2 5200+ CPU based Machine with Asus M2N68-AM SE2 MotherBoard . The BIOS in the system is AMIBIOS . The NVidia Raid Function under "IDE Configuration" is disabled in the BIOS . I would like to ask what would be the changes if this option is 'enabled' ? Also the PnP Aware OS setting is Disabled . InCase these settings have to be enabled , after enabling them , will the changes only be affected if Windows is re-installed ?

Question 3) Give me some Good BenchMark (Application) where I can really see the difference that this card brings to the Graphical Abilities of my machine .

1. Yes, this card is a graphics card which are referred to as GPUs (Graphics Processing Unit).

2. RAID settings are used to "link" multiple hard drives together to be used in unison to provide either redundancy or performance increases (read/write bandwidth or speed). You cannot just "enable" this function. You have to enable it, install a RAID driver, and then newly set up two or more hard drives based on the type of RAID you want. So in this case, yes, you'd have to completely reinstall windows.

PnP stands for Plug And Play. This function allows your OS to automatically detect and install drivers (if available) for any device you plug into your system. However, even with it disabled, OS like Windows XP will do this anyhow. It was an older configuration setting. Honestly, I don't know why it's a BIOS setting anymore. Just leave this disabled. It won't do anything for you.

3. Not sure what type of benchmarks you're looking for. Here's a link to the relative capabilities of current video cards. Your card will show on the second chart for mid level cards. Honestly though, that's being generous as the 8400, by current standards, isn't good for much. In Nvidia XXXX series cards, the second number is typically more important than the first in many cases. For example, a 6800 GT is far more powerful than the 8400 GS.

All motherboards have those playstation /2 ports because of the fact that's required via the popular yet you will rarely come across a keyboard or mouse on the instant that has it. i choose to propose connecting the two keyboard and mouse by ability of USB whether the UEFI BIOS does not strictly require it. homestead windows setup would be much less complicated with a keyboard. - Dominic
