Lol you people are foolish.

There is nothing wrong with Vista like you claim besides memory management. Guess what its the same as every other OS that first comes out.

Move on because sooner or later XP will be a thing of the past

Quit complaining Vista has no support, that is the manufactures fault for not giving Microsoft proper drivers and updates. Microsoft has built a pretty stable and new OS that looks good, functions well and does very well on security for the average person.

There are several things you can tweak if you dont want it on so thats nothing to complain about. If you think Vista is THAT bad, lets look at when XP first came out...how many people were saying OMG20004TW?

Instead of crying about the problems to each other and MS Vista bashing, why not actually report your problems to MS so that they can fix problems you have experienced.

Vista requires a powerful computer to run at optimum speed. Thats why its so slow because you probably got those super cheap computers.

Running vista at optimum performance requires ATLEAST 2GB of RAM, dual core processor, and enough hard drive space. If you have 1GB of RAM, you don't know how terribly slow it is.

I don't think that there is anything wrong with Vista, as such, I use it every day and I don't find I've had any problems with it.

Windows Vista comes with a built in tool that can tell you about the computer it is running on, you should see if your computer gets a good score rating in this tool.

Click on the Start Orb (menu) and then click on Control Panel.

From the Control Panel, click System and Maintenance.

Underneath System (third one down), click on the "Check your computers Windows Experience Index base score" link.

The Windows Experience Index is a new feature of Windows which rates the computer you are using for its ability to run Windows Vista. The base score is the one you need to look at, but there are ratings for each category also.

My base score is 4.5.

If you look at new Vista software, you should notice that it mentions what the base score of your computer should be to run that software.

You might buy a game that requires a base score of 3 to run. If you computer has a base score of 2, that game will probably run very slowly.

If you are unhappy with the product you have purchased, consider taking it back to the point of sale, the shop or web site you bought in from. Remember your rights as a consumer and say that you are unhappy with the product. Perhaps you can swap it for something else.

I hope that I have answered your question fully. Please rate my answer if you find it useful.

vista is not horrible, people do not know either how to use it or their computer is not powerful enough. Vista is power hungry much like a lot of new applications these days. you need at minimum 2gb of ram and a a 256mb graphics card for vista to even begin to run smoothly.

I have a 4gb of ram and 512mb g card and honestly vista is amazing! super smooth, super quick, miles better than xp, driver support is great now and next month the much anticipated update comes out! I would suggest biying an extra gig of ram for about $20! you will not regret it

I'm currently on a new lap top 4 days old it's running on Vista home premium and in my view it is way better than XP which i run on my desk top.

It handles download speeds IE Torrents and everything more efficiently, but this is also down to the dual core processor it has inside, the processor is the major factor in the running of a machine perhaps your processor isn't up to scratch !!!

Vista is slower than XP on any measure. It runs more services, and do more security checks. That waste computer forces.

Also, Vista is not yet finished. It would take 6 months to one year to be ready. (if Microsoft makes a good Vista Service pack 1).

You need a core 2 duo 6400 or Athlon X2 5000, and 1 Gb to run it.(better 2 Gb).

My Advice: Go back to XP; is MUCH better.

I hadn't noticed. I've just got Vista today when I replaced my tower, and other than Vista there was no difference (2 gig DDR RAM on both) and it seems to be running at normal speed.

Having said that, I bought my daughter a new PC 2 month ago and she is complaining it is slow, so maybe I just got lucky.

It is true vista has lots of bugs and drivers are even worse. The other day because of an error I nearly lost all my college work assignments and stuff so next time I have decide on getting a mac even if it is out my budget.

Get atleast 2gb RAM if you're going to use Vista for a pleasent experience.

Mac OSX ftw!

2 GB of RAM for Vista is recommended for the best performance. If you don't have 2GB of RAM, find out what RAM type you need and buy another stick for it, if it voids your warrenty opening your case, ask your dealer or manufacturer if you or they can fit another stick of ram in for you.

vista uses alot more ram than xp, i have a gig and a half in my vista box and its still not up to what i would like it to be
2008-02-08 15:37:01 UTC
it does use more ram to run it so there's very little ram dedicated to your programs and stuff like that... it uses so much because obviously it's way more different than xp & ...idk. even the aero theme needs a certain amount of ram to run properly..

..if you can.. upgrade ram. ((it's not THAT expensive))
2008-02-08 15:33:30 UTC
Jeff (1st answer) is correct. Much higher RAM usage.
