im not sure with this: someone correct me.

Normal USB extension wont work with USB modem, modem are quite strict about their power and you should know that the longer the connection between the pc and the usb, the lesser the speed of data and the power it carries. when you dont have enough power for your modem it will never work.

you have to use something that can maintain that power and data rate. that is the usb ACTIVE extension. google it for more details. its more expensive than a normal wire extension but will work with modems

It is because the Modem uses more power than that of a Flash disk. You need a USB hub which has a power supply to provide that extra power to the modem. Most of the modems require direct connection to the PC / Laptop. However in your case you can get a USB hub the one which comes with a power supply.

How long is USB cable? i use Huawei with 2 meter USB cable and external antenna, (antenna is with 10 meter cable and antenna is on roof) if USB cable is too long between computer and modem it might not work

You can try other USB ports also. Only one or two can push enough power to run anything but a mouse or keyboard.
