I just bought a new computer a few days ago with Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit installed. Is it normal for the memory to go as high as 1gb - 1.2gb with no other programs running? I have 4 gb of ram total so I'm not too worried about it but I'm not used to seeing such high memory usage with nothing running.

Sure. If you have a lot of RAM, Superfetcher would take advantage of it to load applications faster.

If you have 2GB RAM, for example, Superfetcher would use less RAM.

it must be a virus. i suggest u to use quick heal total security antivire. it comes with various tools like dna scan warning, anti mallware, anti rootkit etc. just try different tools. else you have to reinstall the window.

its normal for computers with programs preinstalled by the manufacturer.
