So i have an old computer an XP model, which recently got this fake internet security virus. So i did a i just wiped the system memory and started fresh with a new xp disc.

I installed Everest, which is a program that tells you what drivers you need in your system. i was able to install the Ethernet Controller no problem.

But when i try to install an Audio Adapter it just reboots, and when i turn off auto reboot when system failure it gives me a BSOD.

I tried to install it in Safe Mode , its able to finish the installation, but when its finished and requires me to reboot, it will not even load up to the start up menu, it just go straight to the BSOD right away.

the audio driver i download is for

Audio Adapter Intel 82801EB ICH5 - AC'97 Audio Controller [A-2/A-3]

I also installed Direct X, and tried to find DXDIAG but there is no where to be found, i tried to do a search, i tried RUN.

here is more info on my system.

If you can’t find the right Audio drivers manually I would recommend just getting a software program that can do it for you. There is a program I use which will find drivers for just about all hardware devices. The best part is it takes a snapshot of your system specifications and matches the right driver to go with it. Perform a free driver scan at:

Also, you can get the driver from their official sites:

Yes it could be the power supply that is causing it to restart. If you have a spare computer around try replacing it and see if it works (might have to be more powerful tho). Don't open it up if you have a warranty on it tho! ( I'm guessing it does if its brand new) it will void it straight away. You'll be better off taking it back to where you brought it and get it fixed for free.
