Yes they still take space in your computer. If you disconnect from your WIFI your files are still on your computer. To prove it just right click your SkyDrive folder and choose "Properties" from the pop-up menu. There it will tell you exactly the size in mb or gb your file is taking in your computer. If you delete the contents Skydrive will resync a redownload the files.
Skydrive has been recently changed to OneDrive I have it in my computer, phone & tablet and the files take up space it each device. The only way they won't take space is to delete them in your computer, but that would defeat the purpose

Yes the OneDrive files do take up space on your hard drive, but you can instead store them in the OneDrive cloud only and set only desired files to sync to the computer.

Hi,
I recommend to clean up the register in order to improve your pc performances and get rid of malwares. A good program you can use is CCleaner http://bit.ly/UrAqoL
Check it out.
Good Bye
