I was messing around in command prompt the other day, figuring out how things worked, and I think I inadvertently changed my password on my one and only account using the 'net user' command. I've looked up ways to get around this, tried the administrator account in safe mode, and have no disk drive (internal OR external) for a boot disk.

Fortunately I have a dual-boot set up with Ubuntu, however I'm not proficient with Ubuntu, and all my personal files are on Windows XP.

Any tips/suggestions?

Using the Third part utility---Windows Password Unlocker is highly recommended

1.Download Windows Password Unlocker from Password Unlocker Official site

2.Decompress the Windows password unlocker and note that there is an .ISO image file. Burn the image file onto an blank CD with the burner freely supported by Password Unlocker.

3.Insert the newly created CD into the locked computer and re-boot it from the CD drive.

4.After launched the CD, a window pop up with all your account names(if you have several accounts); select one of the accounts that you have forgotten its password to reset it. Just one press, you have removed the password.

You can go browsing because the administrator (Alt+Ctrl+Del two occasions, at the consumer emblem reveal). In the brand new window that looks sort Administrator wherein is the consumer and go away the password clean. It would paintings with none challenge. After you're logged as administrator pass in Control panel / Users and delete the password that you've got for your account. Good good fortune!

You could try downloading chntpw (http://home.eunet.no/pnordahl/ntpasswd/) and burning it into a cd. Then reboot the computer. Make sure you have boot from cd as a first boot option. Then just follow the onscreen instructions.

chntpw is also available as an application in ubuntu but i dont know if it is in the repos. Just try googling for it.
