Your "short term" memory is your RAM...but when you "save" you putting data in your hard drive. Your programs are "saved" in your hard drive.

Oh God!

u cannot save anything in RAM

everything shud be or rather can only be saved in Hard drive

RAM is the memory which is needed to run the live tasks but when task complete and u want to save it it will saved in HDD only. the location wud be or can be changed by u as per ur choice and need.

all unsaved task gets stored in RAM. only when u save it gets to HDD. without saving it if u shut down or logg off all the task wud be gone forever. like when u open a wordpad and type something it is in RAM and when u save it it is in HDD. if u close the wordpad without saving it the work is gone from RAM forever.

Enjoy...

You store programs on the hard drive. When they're actually running, parts of them are loaded into memory as needed.
