Ok, if I understand correctly, hyper threading means doubling the cores right ? So, my x4 955 processor already has 4 physical cores if I'm correct, so, my question is how do I enable the hyper threading to make it 8 cores ? (4 physical and 4 virtual cores)
I do a lot of 3d rendering and although it's quite fast already, I'd like to make to go faster, because I've done renders that could take over 3 days long lol, 3D animations

Thank you very much for your answers...

the x4 doesn't have hyperthreading.hyperthreading is exclusive to intel core i3,core i7,and some pentium 4's.

the only feature that would increase cores from amd is the core unlocking in the athlon and phenom series.though your specific model of phenom doesn't support it.the link below tells which ones do.

also hyperthreading doesn't increase cores it increases virtual cores.it makes each core have two threads, which is why the i3 has 2 cores but 4 threads and the i7 has 4 cores and 8 threads.

the amd feature similar to this is implemented in bulldozer to use the opposite method from hyperthreading, hyperthreading makes the core more complex and doubles virtual cores, whereas bulldozer makes it more simple and makes more assets dedicated, to double physical cores, though the implementation was poor so bulldozer ended up weaker than even the i5.

to increase render speed in maya,3dsmax,blender try buying a nvidia quadro or a amd firepro it increases performance significantly when building and working with complex 3d models, and improves render times.
