Hi guys, I really hope someone can help me!

I've just build a new system with the following parts:

MSI K9N-SLI Platinum Motherboard
2Gb Patriot 6400 DDR2
Athlon X2 5600+
256Mb X1950 Pro Graphics Card
700w OCZ StealthXstream PSU

I've kept the HDD and Optical drive from my old system

Put the whole thing together last night and it powers up, all the lights come on the motherboard and case and all the fans are on as well (including the one on the graphics card), however I get no display whatsoever - just a black screen. The monitor behaves as if it is in standby mode. If I disconnect the monitor whilst the system is on then I get a message on the screen saying "No Signal" which always happens if I have the monitor on but the system off.

I know the Graphics card works as it was running in my old system

Can anybody please shed some light for me? This is only my 2nd self-built system so I'm no expert yet!

your power supply might not enough to supply your new devices. as i compute the power requirement of your specification youn need atleast 450watts of power supply

Ah, you kept your old HDD? Did you reformat and reinstall your OS. If you use Window OS then you must reinstall. Every time you shut down a Windows OS it stores a list of your systems hardware. If you put your old drive in a mostly new system the last hardware file made by the OS will not match the new systems hardware, i.e., that particular installation of Windows will never boot.

I build my own systems too. It is cheaper and I get what I want. One time I took a system of mine apart to clean G Card fan and renew cpu's thermal paste. When I put it back together I had the same symptoms you have now. Baffled me for several hours. Finally (and I don't know why) I took my G Card back out of its socket, made sure contacts were clean (they were) then plugged it back and booted system. Everything worked fine except for my thinking. I still scratch my head from time to time on that one :)

I hope that helped you.

Oh yeah, that 700w PSU is a plenty.

1. Check your motherboard manual to see which PCI x16 slot you should be using for a single card setup.

2. Try the red CMOS reset button on the motherboard.

3. Try a different Graphics card and monitor.
