I have a sata hard drive and trying to load windows xp. Where can i find the driver. It is a Hitachi hard drive and a gateway machine and the model number of the gateway is E-475M and the model number of the hard drive is HTS721010G9SA00.

You need the SATA driver from Gateway. You can download it from here:
Note: This file contains the Windows XP or Windows Vista (32-bit) SATA/mass storage controller driver.

Driver should be on the motherboard not on the drive which comes with the CD. SATA will be treated like a USB device that is unplugable while running.

There is just two relation between "Intel dual core proces..r win xp profess sp3 giga byte mother board and whatever device in your pc" Synchronization and support. dual core support sata cables if the motherboard and hard drive have the sata ports, u connect them, there will no problem from Hardware

at there web site it says no drivers are needed they are allready on the hard drive

are you haveing problems installing or are you not seeing it make sure you have it in the first sata or it will not pick up
I was fist told you could not only have a sata drive witch is not true you just have to put it in the right slot and make sure your wires are good

Does the motherboard have built-in SATA ports? Are you using an HBA? You will have to locate the correct driver. The device manager will help.
