I have a WD NAS mybook world hdd 1TB (the old one) but the led rings wont turn on when I try to turn it on. I tried reseting the settings by pressing the reset button and connecting the drive, but the LEDs are not turning on. I also pressed the front button for 1 min but still no response.
When I plug it into the outlet, I can hear the HDD spinning but again the LED display is not lighting up.
Has anyone experienced this problem and know how to fix it?

Thanks

WD MyBooks are the worst external Hard Drives made. The power buttons usually stops working after 3 to 4 months... a year if you're lucky.

LaCie is probably the best External Hard Drive.

you should take a glance on the device Log to work out if it has something functional, notwithstanding it sounds to me as though the unit is incorrect. in case you sense like digging a splash, take a examine out right here formerly attempting to return it for an replace: - Are the white LED's on the front nevertheless lit formerly you cycle potential? if so, curiously like the OS locks up. - Is Twonky logging enabled? which could soak up an excellent sort of area, no count number if it rather is. - enable SSH on the stepped forward Mode - device - stepped forward internet site and log in with a freeware application called putty and notice what "df -h" says. which will instruct how a lot of each partition is getting used. cheers
