1) Emachines=not good, get something else like HP.

2) Disconnect ur extra hard drive n try again.

3) Set ur new hard drive (if its external, i have no clue) to "Slave". This should be on the side of the drive, with a clip over several slots.

4) Consult Emachines customer service,.

The hard drive should have a little thing that you plug onto some pins. Maybe you should have it set to Slave. The hard drive should show you where to put the little thing so it is set to Slave. Also make sure that the new hard drive is at the end of the hard drive cable.

Emachine is a great computer!

Lol - if you add a second drive you need to set the jumpers to slave on the new one or else there's a good chance on boot up the new drive may be seen as the Master (one with the OS on it). There's normally a map to direct you in setting the jumpers on the drive. Set the jumpers on the other drive to master.

Hi,

First off, calm down. Second, the error you see is because the disk you installed isn't configured properly. Look under your BIOS settings, and see if it detects the drive (after you connect it, it should show up under available disks). If BIOS doesn't detect it, than the disk you installed is either not compatible with your computer (from the specs I saw, its rather old, and probably won't work with the newer hardware, although I'm unsure of this), or its defunct and you need a new one.

Hope I could hep,

Regards,

Make sure you have an operating system installed on the hard drive, and all your plugs and connections are in the proper ports. Try gateway's web site (they own e-machines) www.lenovo.com then there should be a link on the bottom of the page.

have you replaced the old hard drive or fitted another with the old one still in place.

if you've fitted another in to old hard drives place you'll need to reinstall windows.

if you've fitted an extra hard drive make sure the new one has the jumpers set at slave you'll see it at the rear of the hard drive a block of about 8 pins with a slide over two of the pins there should be a diagram on the hard drive for jumper settings

Check the jumpers on the two hard drives. Your existing drive should be set to Master, and your new drive set to Slave. This setting is done by moving the jumper on the drive.

Most likely you have both drives set to Master currently.

Good Luck

Your hard drive plugs (grey plug from hard drive to mother board)are backwards on the motherboard, try swithcing them. Has to be plugged in slot one the right way, if this doesnt work, spin the cord thats in the motherboard.

do no longer attempt changing the BIOS settings coz it is going to easily make it worst, plus no remember if it rather is on 640x480 the colours of your exhibit are all mild... I propose no longer in genuine colours (256 colours mode) 2 issues you're able to do. one million) suitable click on the laptop click homes - settings- then there is this decision exhibit screen section drag it until it is going to 1024x768. or 2) re-set up your video driving force

try this set one drive as master and one drive as slave. This is done by moving a jumper on the back of the drive near the flat cabled called the ide cable. You should see

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: :::: 0000

IDe " Flat Cable" Slave/master then power

This should help you not constantly reboot.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
