I can't access the files I've transferred to my Kanguru QS3 1.5Tb Hard Drive from my own pc, however can when plugged into a secondary computer. Both pcs run Win 7. I did attempt a small change on my own computer when I decided to try to make a secondary partition on the main hard drive of my computer. I had followed instructions I found on microsoft's knowledge base to create the drive. After making the drive I noticed things had slown down some. I then went back to the knowledge base to figure out how to successfully delete the partition and reallocate that space back. Things are still running slow even after that, and I still cannot access that drive, or any other drive that I have attempted to access. But then another of my drives works perfectly, which is also an external hard drive requiring external power, my Seagate FreeAgent. How can this one still show up while the other can't, and are these related some how?

This is a tough one. When I last worked in IT 250GB was considered huge and SATA drives had only just come out. It it sees the drive in the BIOS yes or No. If no check all the connections but I think your looking at some faulty firmware non the drive itself.

The external one is ?USB I presume a different power feed so that does not rule anything out I'm afraid. It must recognize it in the BIOS. If not the drive has a fault.

If it does try reformatting. Sorry just general advice to be honest I have not even heard of that make before, you are least touching the earth of the case to discharge static? Static damage is HDDs is common/

Your device being hacked is the least probable reason of your no longer trouble-free disks failure. plenty plenty extra probable is factor failure. The electronics can get blown via static electrical energy. The mechanical side can get worn or overheated. The magnetic floor can get broken or merely visit pot. the fee of ask your self absorbtion and useful cooling could enhance the time-honored fee of a device that maximum clientele does not settle for
