-My desk top has so many bugs and problems it barely starts up anymore, dail up would be leaps and bounds ahead of it, I have windows seven on my laptop and it is fast and smooth.

My Problem

-If I instail windows seven on my desktop (it has XP right now) will I lose the wireless internet for the laptop I also have?

-Will I have to set up my wireless network all over again?

-Will viruses on my desktop infect my windows seven CD?

1) You will not lose the wireless connection. Just make sure that Windows 7 drivers exist for your wifi NIC before proceeding with the installation for your convenience.

2) No, you will not have to set up your wireless network over again. The Windows 7 installation will not change your network configuration at all. That information is stored on your router. if you used a static IP you'll need to set that up again and maybe re-enter your DNS server addresses but that would be all. If you use DHCP you won't have to do anything.

3) No, you cannot re-write onto a commercially pressed disc.

Question 1: No

Question 2: No your wireless is configured through your router.

Question 3: No you can only copy the windows 7 CD not write to it.

Note: I know Vista has the upgrade feature to 7 to allow you to keep everything you have just change the operating system I'm not sure about XP however. if you have any documents you need I'd save them on a External Harddrive or flash drive.

obviously know nothing abuot computers? hmm... well, first you need to know how to put the cd into the disk drive, and how to run it. if you already do, though, however...

i'll answer your questions:

1. no

2. no

3. no, it's impossible, unless you've got an expensive rewritable disk that you illegally downloaded from a site. (which, from the nature of the question, i doubt, because you may lack the knowledge to do so), also, on such an ancient desktop, do you have a dvd drive? because the windows 7 disk is too big to put on CD. as well as that,if you manage to get such a fast operating system like xp so slow, that means that if you were to install windows seven, it would be half its current speed.

"dial up would be leaps and bounds ahead of it" what would that mean... it's like saying that a water bottle is more modern than my arm... no sense:|

No you will not loose your wireless internet, thuo the only thing you will loose is your Wireless Access point Security Key. but Windows 7 will install your wireless back onto your Desktop allowing you to connect to the internet.

Hope this helps

No, no and No.

First No: Wireless settings are saved onto the router, not your computer. However, you do need to know the Password, and the encryption type (if any).

Second No: Dido

Third No: You cannot burn anything (including viruses) onto an already written CD.

Make sure the driver for your desktop wireless card is compatible with win 7.Like xp when it just came out, driver compatible was a big problem.

You may lose it, but just reinstall the wireless card driver. Windows 7 should find your network pretty much automatically.

you wont be waiting to place in via homestead windows 7 as you cant bypass backwards, you are able to acquire XP mode for homestead windows 7 yet given which you acquire homestead windows expert or above yet you are able to installation via Bios, Set your Bios as nicely of your optical force and then it is going to boot of CD, installation XP on your secondary problematical force that way...
