I use various programs that, at times, require me to press four or more keys at once to perform various actions, however most of the time it only registers three keys being pressed... Is there any way I can get my computer/keyboard to accpet all four or more keys being pressed or must I live with only being able to use three at a time?

You cant press more than 3 keys on the keyboard simultaneously coz of 2 things..

1st thing thing is that the keyboard is not programmed to detect more than 3 keystrokes simultaneously

2ndly, the interface, usually PS/2 keyboard, does not support more than 3 key signals at a time to the motherboard.

So if at all you need to get to press more than 3 keys at one, my advice is to get a USB interface keyboard, that is programmed to detect more than 3 keystrokes. Most gaming keyboards (and possibly high-end business keyboards) have this.

I hope I answered you.

Most keyboards do not allow you to use more than three keys simultaneously, because most processors can't handle so much input at once. This is also a common probably in gaming, where you may want to run diagonally (two keys), jump (one key), and switch weapons (one more key, coming to the unusable total of four) at the same time. Because of this, many keyboards are being introduced that allow you to press up to five or six keys at a time.

However, since most of these keyboards are geared toward gamers, you may end up having to buy a keyboard that is not as aesthetically pleasing as you might want (assuming you are not a gamer yourself).

it incredibly is with the aid of fact many keyboards have a 'shrink' to what share keys could be registered at as quickly as, and specific combos are in some situations excepted. extremely, it incredibly is the keyboard bios or driving force this is doing it, and you could't restoration it. in basic terms suggestion i could have is to look for a gaming keyboard (somewhat severe, yet they frequently enable many key presses for various makes use of).

Must be a PC thing......

Macs have no problems with using 4 keys at once.

Quite a few of the keyboard shortcuts for my desktop publishing programs involve 4 keystrokes at once.
