Static when I hit high notes in recordings! HELP!?

I've been using the Samson Go Mic (a USB Condenser microphone) with mixcraft, but I am unable to sing any high/belty notes without having the recording have static during those parts. When I sing low notes no problems seem to occur.

With mixcraft, I simply just plug my USB in and record. Am I doing something wrong? It seems to be that way for different computers as well.

It's one of the best USB microphones, but I'm not sure if it's just a defect :(

Please help!

Possibly too close to the microphone or, if you're using an outboard mixer, the gain (preamp) control is set too high.

Try to find the source of your static by eliminating all parameters. Some possibilities:

- To rule out your headphones, that's easy : play something you know sounds good in a different player (quicktime or so). No cracks and stuff : headphones ruled out. static: the problem is on the output.

- Load a wav of a song in Ableton and play it. no effects, nothing. Static? problem is in Ableton or beyond. No static : look at the input side.

- play in some sounds, and then play them back to check if you record the static in Ableton. Look at your CPU, if that's too high you have to export the sound and listen in eg Quicktime. If the static remains, that means Ableton is recording it. If the static isn't there when you play it in Quicktime, then it's likely a CPU matter. Make sure you have nothing else running in the background and try again.

Try disabling the Line-In port.
