My computer has been running slow and I wanted to increase the paging files from custom to system managed size will this help?

No you cant damage your computer but unless you know about computers or have some knowledge of how memory works the best thing to do is let Windows manage your virtual memory. If your system is running slow you could run defrag, system cleanup, take some of your programs out of startup as well. If you want to increase your virtual memory be sure to look at your hard drive make sure you have the space and then increase it to about 1.5 to 2 times the amount of ram you have installed on your computer. With your paging file general rule of thumb is 1.5x your RAM, anything less can cause your computer to run slower since it will probably be depleting the ram and page file, a larger page file can help but isn't necessary, try using disk cleanup when your computer is running slow, but other than that changing the paging file wont really damage your computer.
