During installation Setup formats the HDD and once formatted, Setup copies its files to the HDD. After finishing copying files, the computer reboots as normally and this time it should boot to the HDD to continue the installation.
What’s happening is that, after rebooting it asks to press any key to boot from CD and I am ignoring so that it can then boot from my already formatted hard drive but it is by itself without me pressing any key boots from the CD and repeats the same process of formatting the hard disk, copies files and it keeps going over and over the same process

Please help me I am stack and don’t know how to get around this problem.

The problem is your BIOS settings are incorrect.. Reboot the computer and keep tapping Del and F1 to get to the BIOS settings and reset to default settings, save and exit.. After that go back to your BIOS settings and make sure that your primary and secondary masters are set to (C= primary) and (CD ROM= secondary).. Try that and reformat your hard drive, delete the partition and start formatting in a new one..

The process you follow is absolutely correct.

Then check you keyboard first, then go to bios setup by pressing Delete key just after rebooting.....

One thing u can do dat, just before 1st booting you can take the bootable XP cd out of the cd-rom. Then check what will happen.

Or u can change the boot priority option from bios se up menu.

After formatting and when computer reboots remove installation CD from CD-drive. XP's setup will prompt for it again when needed.

maybe someone else has better advice

does the system have a floppy drive or other means of booting to DOS? if so, format the drive from DOS,

then start the xp installation from DOS:

D:\i386\winnt.exe

this may give you some flexibility in tracking down the problem

another thought:

is this a dual boot setup where you already have another operating system installed?

The solution is simple, just remove your CD after all files are copied. You probably won't need it during next installation steps.

if taking the cd out didnt work, Then problem might be the BIOS..change priority, HDD then CD. usually it will be that..also check ur Master/Slave jumper setting if u installed a new HDD...

After the copying stage remove the windows XP CD from the CD ROM.......................if it is still not working then the windows CD might be corrupted.
