I am building a new gaming computer for my self which will have an athlon 64 bit chip (the 7750 kuma). I only have a 32 bit version of XP though. Do i need to purchase a 64 bit OS, or can the 32 Bit run on the 64 bit chip. Also if it can, how will memory addressing be affected. Will I be able to use 4 gig of ram ?

the 64bit cpu is just a cpu that CAN run a 64bit os. it will handle a 32bit os with no problem. it is just future proof if oyu like to think of it that way.

Hope this helps

yes, u can run a 32-bit os on a 64bit chip, and 32-bit computers can only "see" up to 3 gb of RAM 64 bits can "see" up to 8gb
