ESD. That is the second most likely cause as to why your PC does not work. First is that you stuck the wires in the wrong place!
Good that you seem to have stopped b4 that. lol.
Your motherboard(mobo) is manufactured by some one. That model will have information available at their site(s).
If you can't find the information on line or in the documentation that came with your PC... all is not lost.
In teeny tiny letters they mark the mobo. There are generally accepted guidelines followed as well(to allow some capability with plugs etc).
Without your specifics it is impossible to tell you where to look.
Without numbing you with technology(and don't panic) remember next time LABEL and make a map... with a cars sparkwires replace one at a time! And for cleaning compressed air works wonders(don't blow off jumpers(shunts) or overdrive fans).
ESD, which is electro-static discharge, can severely damage
electronics. Hopefully the area you dissembled the pc is slightly humid with a concrete floor... and you were not wearing polyester sleeves...
I will guess that the wires you mention are from the face of your pc... the ones for the buttons and lights in front. This makes it easier... most likely on the edge(towards the side) of mobo you'll find a grouping(plug recepticle) of which neatly labeled in tiny letters... next to each pin(recepticle having six or eight pins) the spots you're looking for... each wire has a square plastic end?
Find the right spot and all wires will be in the right area... careful
slip that small plastic square over the pin... (and hopefully the pc unit is still unplugged...)
Some symbols change between manufacturers BUT I faith that with a lil regained confidence you'll work it out... Good Luck!
Let me know how it goes- I do care. Pay transport and I'll come show you how!
