Recently my computer was acting slow and I shut it down and restarted it. Now when it turns on it goes to the default windows 7 log-in screen, but doesn't have any way to log-in. If I let it sit for 10 minutes an HP screen appears and shows options, nothing works including the system reset to put it back to the default factory condition. I really need this problem fixed as I just started college and need that computer for most of my classes. Thanks for any help.
P.S. Its a Compaq Presario CQ61 laptop if that helps.

you stated that you have to the option to reset to factory settings which is good because it starts fresh but that will earse all data saved. if you have important data you want to retrieve , you should take it to a computer tech. if you don;t have important data you can reset it yourself

Scan and fix Windows registry errors.

To tell you frankly, most of the slow computer symptom is related to registry errors. If you want to fix slow computer thoroughly, eliminating registry problems is an effective way. If you frequently install or uninstall applications on your computer, there must be many invalid registry entries in the system unless you delete them manually in registry list. A slow Windows computer could probably be caused by corrupted, invalid and malicious registry entries. You had better clean up registry errors regularly to fix slow computer and make your computer run faster and more stable.
