I have a PC with Intel Core2 Quad Q8200 @ 2.33 Ghz.
Would Intel Pentium E6800 @ 3.33 Ghz make it faster?
So the question is: 2.33ghz 4-core or 3.33 Ghz 2-core?

4 core will process faster, higher clock speed does NOT and never will mean a faster PC.
this isn't strictly correct, but look at it this way (2.33 * 4) core is faster than (3.33 * 2 core)
I've got a 1.0GHz netbook, and it's faster than my desktop PC (3.06GHz)
4GB RAM is the max you can install with a 32bit OS (windows anyway)
Readyboost is rubbish unless you've got USB 3.0 ports or an SSD installed.
Upgrading your graphics card will help speed it up, since you'll be taking more strain off your CPU. something with at least 1GB onboard memory.
You want a high wattage PSU to cope with extras too.
buy a high flow case fan, a PC that is cool runs smoother.

Press start and type into the 'Search programs and files' box 'DISK'. At the top of the start menu you will see 'Disk Defragment', click on it. From here, you can Defragment the disk, which will notably increase your pc's speed. I'd recommend pressing 'configure schedule' and set it to defragment your pc daily, at a time you don't use it, such as 1:00am. This will help keep your pc nice and speedy and reliable
Hope this helps,

4 core in my opinion! More cores the more multitasking you can do! If your MOBO accepts it i would go for an I5 760 or above and in my opinion you would see better performance and possibly upgrade the RAM?
Need more information regarding the system as you dont want to bottleneck the thing ;)
