Is Open Office 3.1 compatible with Microsoft Office 2007?
My dad refuses to buy Microsoft Office 2007 but downloaded the free Open Office word processor. My school uses Microsoft Office and I need to be able to do homework at home and be able to send it back and forth (through emails or flash drives). Is that possible? Or do I have to pay for Microsoft Office 2007 myself?

The best Microsoft Office compatible suite that I use on my own work laptop is the Kingsoft Office 2007 Free Personal suite version.

It is compatible with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint:

The installation file is stored in a zip file so you will need a program like Winzip or ExtractNow (which you can get from www.download.com) to unzip the file and extract the installation program for the Kingsoft Office 2007 Free Personal Edition.

I use the Kingsoft Office 2007 Free Edition suite on my own work laptop mainly because the menu interface for this suite is similar to Microsoft Office 2003 and so I find it easier to use.

Here is a website that gives more information about the Kingsoft Office 2007 free version:

…and then there is also the free Softmaker Office 2006 which is compatible with Microsoft Word and Excel:

Good Luck and I hope one of the above office suites will meet your needs!

Yes it is. The only thing is that Open Office misses a lot of thing Office have. It can also not be as good looking when you open a Open Office file with Microsoft Office. Honestly, you should check out for Office Pro 2k7 Blue edition, you don't need any CDKey to run it.

Open Office works great and saves the MS Office formatting just fine.

this question is somewhat imprecise; once you're asking what would you do if that should ensue, then the fast answer would be merely to place in a sparkling observe processor and merely use that. working example if i became informed to offer up utilising Microsoft observe and use a sparkling one, then i'd acquire the OpenOffice suite and use their observe processor. If I had to uninstall MS observe first, i'd do this.

save the file as a .doc file or a .docx
