"it won't let me" is not helpful, do you have a DVD writer? are you trying to burn a DVD with just data or playable in a DVD player?

if you have a DVD burner you should be able to put in a blank DVD and drag/drop your file on the disk and burn in windows, that will not be playable in a dvd player, but it will tell you if have a dvd burner, google "free movies to DVD" and it will convert your avi for DVD players.

if you got stuck with a combo drive (like my company laptop) it is a cd burner/ DVD rom so it won't burn DVD's

Let's assume that you used a dvd writer and you wanted to burn some avi movies or video clips into DVDs so that you can watch them on your dvd player. If so, what you need is a software that will convert your avi movies into a DVD format. You need a software like "ConvertX to DVD". I'm currently using this software to convert and compile movies clips in files like avi, 3gp, flv, etc. to a home made DVD which I can play on any DVD player. It's fun and easy to use. You can download a trial version of it here: http://www.vso-software.fr/products/convert_x_to_dvd/

Have fun :)

This problem happened to me before. Your computer may miss the code, download and install K-lite code pack may fix the problem.

Or you may try convertxtodvd, I always use it to convert and burn AVI video to DVD, it works pretty well for me. I think it's better than windows media player. If you are interested in it, here is a guide regarding how to use it

Hope it helps. Email me if you need further assistant or use http://www.google.com to search more answers.

Hi,

The first thing i wish to ask you is if you are sure your dvd burner is ok?

if that is the case, then get a good burning software such as nero or ashambo to do you the job. Most at times it will not just without with a third party software installed unto your computer. I can help you with.

Burning DVD, at first you must have a dvd burner drive on your computer, most dvd burner drives have a text "DVD RW" on drive panel, you need to check your dvd drive to validate it is right dvd burner drive, then you need to use a right dvd burning software, can't use windows media player to burn dvd.

If you just want to burn avi file to dvd as data dvd, you can try RZ Free DVD Burner, it's free and easy to use, and can directly burn any files or folders to any dvd discs as data dvd, the data dvd can be played on computer, but can't play on regular dvd player.

So if you want to play the burned dvd on regular dvd player, you need to use a better software to convert and burn your avi file to a video DVD that can be played well on dvd player, you can try RZ DVD Creator, it can directly convert any video files to video dvd and burn to any dvd disc(DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-R DL, DVD+R DL, etc), such as convert and burn avi file to video DVD, and the burned video dvd can be played well on dvd player.

You can yahoo or google search and download RZ Free DVD Burner or RZ DVD Creator, both easy to use, hope them can help you.

Get some sort of flammable liquid and pour it on the DVD in question. Set it alight in a well ventilated area.
