I installed the Thermaltake Power Express 450 Watts with my new nvidia 9800 gx2 in my pc. Everytime I shut down the pc I have to wait one hour or more to be able to turn the pc on again. When I try to turn it on, I hear 3 beeps and there is no signal on my monitors. The pc seems to go into windows and all, but there is no video. If I wait over an hour, the pc starts normally, with just one beep. Motherboard is an ASUS p5k3. The primary power supply is a generic 630w power supply. I hope you can help me out here. Thanks.

is this Thermaltake psu only for 1 9800gx2 or is there another graphics card powered with it? for only 1 9800gx2 the amperage is by far sufficient, so a weak psu is out of question.

my guess is you either didn't install it correctly or that psu is faulty (or even the main psu don't provide a proper POWER ON signal via this 2 wire cable).

for all the people who don't know (^_^) about what kind of psu we're talking

I think it may just be the set up itself not being able to supply the video card properly. There's a reason pro video gamers and serious overclockers just use one very powerful PSU 1000W or more. I personally recommend that you get yourself a new PSU and return the thermaltake power express because you may not be getting the amperage you need from the unit. If you aren't able to return it call thermaltake tech support and they should be able to help you out. Here's a list of recommended PSUs from nvidia for your graphics card. Best of luck to you.

I think 800W+ PSUs will handle it, maybe you'll want more powerful one just in case. Some suggestions: Antec High Current Gamer 900W Corsair TX950 950W Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold 1000W

You have TWO power supplies installed in this computer?

How do you turn the second one on? Did you splice the /PS_ON and Ground leads to the other power supply? Or do you just use a paper clip?

If you are just expecting the other power supply to just turn on, then you are sorely mistaken.

The PSU needs to have the PS_ON lead shorted to a ground in order for the PSU to operate. If you just plugged that thermaltake power supply to your video card, then that is your problem.
