"virtual memory" is data written on your HDD temporarily and functions like extra RAM (though slower than "natural memory")

If you do not have enought you either

a) have no space on your HDD

b) did not tell windows to make enough of it

in case of a) free more space on you HDD - cleanup, copy data to CDs and delete it from HDD or of course - get another HDD

in case of b) go to menu Control Panel / System / Advanced / Performance click "coniguration" and advanced options you will find the settings for virtual memory eventually. They are usually set to "windows control" ie. automatic, but you can set teh minimum and maximum values as well the HDD where it should be created...

Hoep this solves it

Virtual Memory is VERYYYYYYYYY SLOWWWWW because it uses you hard drive. RAM is cheap nowadays but maybe not for long, so better buy additional RAM NOW! You will be surprised by the big improvement just by doing this.

You can manually change it. Look to http://www.nmav.com/support/AvidTechnology/VirtualMemorySettingsforWindowsXP

and there is a complete walkthrough of how to increase your virtual memory. Good luck!

I found that it's best to have windows set to manage virtual memory, and defragment at least once a week to keep free space on the hard drive. = ( "system managed size"). To change it: computer/propertes/advanced/performance/advanced/at the bottom change it.

Start/Control Panel/Performance and Maintenance/System/Advanced tab/Performance, Settings button/Advanced tab/Virtual Memory, Change button/bullet
