Raw is correct, when you are going through the setup for windows 7 there is an option to show how to handle the partitions already on your drive. you simply remove any partition and let windows 7 allocate the space as necessary. it will also create a partition of about 100 megs and then the main working partition. if you are still getting errors trying that I would run a diagnostic on the hard drive.

and of course all of this as indicated by Raw is assuming that you are using a Store purchased copy of windows 7 and a MAC key provided with the disk. .

When you are trying to install are you clicking the upgrade button or are you using the advanced options? If you are clicking the upgrade option it may be trying to save any files you have such as pictures, videos, documents and it not be able to do that because how Ubuntu is set up. So try using the advanced option and if you want to use the full C drive and not have separate partitions(multiple drive letters) use the default setting for that option.

Just format the drive.
