I turned on my laptop this morning to load my assignments to my usb to print them out at school and when i turned it on it says windows did not starts successfully and choose 5 options (3 safe mode type, last known config, and start normally)

If i pick any of the safe modes (safe mode, command prompt, networking) then i get all kinds of letters scrolling on my screen and it stays there.
exampmulti(0)disk(0)partition(1)..WINDO...

If i choose start windows normally or last good known configuration, the microsoft logo with the scrolling progress just stay on the screen (the longest ive let it stay there is 30 mins)

someone please help me the semester is almostover and i need to turn in my assignments that are saved in my comp!

REMEMBER: i cant get into the comp so i cant make any changes to it unless its the recovery mode, BIOS setting or the boot menu
(gateway, windows xp, intel centrino duo)

That doesn't look good.

A last ditch effort may be to install windows on the same hard disk WITHOUT reformatting. This may repair the windows installation or maybe you could access your files from the separate installation. Another possibility, buy a cheap hard drive enclosure ($10 on www.newegg.com), plug your hard drive into it and try accessing the files from a separate computer.

good luck

Try unplugging the Usb flash drive (I am assuming that it is a thumb drive). Then when your computer starts, choose 'last good configuration', and if it takes a long time let it sit for a very long time, maybe before you go to bed let it start loading. The Usb drive has probably failed when you turned the computer on, or something.

If this does not work, it is probably serious and you should contact the computer manufacturer. I am willing to bet that it isn't a software problem.

at the same time as transferring right into a hardware inforamation you may want to record all of your Hardware configuration. ie. RAM, CPU %, MB and so on. a million) First reinstall xp after formating in case your problem stay unsolved 2) examine your RAM (Repalace it with a a million gb / 512 mb go beyond / Kingston RAM 3) examine your demanding disk. in case you listen a valid from the hard disk noe that is the time replace it. (set up xp on an yet another operating HDD.) it truly is all

TRY a "Hard Boot"!

Shut it off, from the 'START' Icon, if it IGNORES your Command, UNPLUG IT!

Wait at LEAST 1/2 hour and Turn on again!

Sometimes "Windows XP" can be a PAIN IN THE AZZ!
