A VGA card is the hardware in your computer that takes what programs want to show, and tells the monitor to display that 'stuff' using instructions and signals that the monitor understands.



So, a program might say to the VGA card, "display these characters on a black background", or "draw a red line from the top left to the bottom right of the screen". The VGA card will figure out exactly which pixels, or locations, on the screen need to show which colors for that to happen, and then it tells the monitor/screen exactly where to put the red dots to make it look like the line the program wanted displayed.



A VGA card is one example of a Graphics Card -- just like a VW Beetle is one example of an Automobile.

VGA is the old color standard used in computer graphics. It wasn't the first: CGA was first, with 16-colors, then VGA, and SVGA.



Your video card in your computer...yes, the one you're sitting in front of right now...is based on the VGA standard, at the very lowest level.

the VGA card is your computers grapgics card.... it translates data from other parts of you computer into color code that go to your monitor.... your monitor then takes theres color codes and paints the picture u need to see on the screen, pixel by pixel
