I am having trouble physically installing the card on the MOBO. The card doesn't really push into the slot well. The MOBO is an ASRock extreme3, it has two PCI e slots, one is x16 and the other is x4.

When i plug the card into the x16, it doesn't push in all the way, and the end of the card is more seated than the rest of the card, however, the x4 slot fits it without a problem, the only problem is i don't want my card running at a x4 speed, i want it running at it's full x16 potential. Any ideas on what i could do?

Alright, i took out the motherboard and got some good shots at how the card looks while it's plugged in.

This is the card plugged into the PCI e x4 slot,

As you can see all of the little pins highlighted in red are all pretty equal and all pushed in all the way.

Here is the card plugged into the PCI e x16 slot

Now in this pic, you can see that the pins in the red box are not all on the same level, the ones on the left are pushed in the slot more than the others, i can't seem to push the others in any more. You can also tell that the card is raised more than when plugged into the x4, so clearly it doesn't push in all the way.

I recorded two videos, one of me plugging the card into the x4 slot and one into the x16 slot. Tell me if you want to see them.

Pins all look seated evenly to me in those pictures. At least, close enough to being even.... Both pictures seem to show PCI-Ex16 slot...

Sometimes the metal bracket at the back has issues aligning with the back panel and screw holes, that may cause some "lifting" of some pins, but a proper PCI-Ex16 slot usually has a clip at the back to hold the card down properly. Solution for that is to usually bend the metal mounting bracket a bit, to fit better.

according tyo the pic it appears to be a old agp slot . I would seriously suggest upgrading to a

digfferent board u never mentioned what card u own so i cant tell what slot it fits but i can say this.

you board supports pic-e 16x slot.2 of them that means u can get 2 cards to support that board

like a gtx 460 and gtx460oc

i would check that there is nothing stuck in the slot that might make the card sit like this, there may be dirt of some sort in there
