Webcam issues (Logitech QuickCam Messenger)?

Question

I have a Logitech QuickCam Messenger that my brother got me a while ago, over a year, and for the longest time it's worked just fine. It even worked for him when he had it, and I had never had any problems with it whatsoever for the longest time. (Realize this is the original webcam, with the white design and black detachable base, and the button on the top. Not auto-focusing either.)

However, on... Tuesday, I went to take a shower, and left my webcam opened and broadcasting on Yahoo, and when I come back, it's frozen. I decided to restart it, and it shows pitch black. Yahoo!, MSN, even Logitech's software, won't detect it. There's no noise when you plug it up or unhook it either, so it's obviously not detecting it being attached...

I looked on the inside of the USB port itself, and there are normally 4 slots where the gold things are... Holding it so that you're looking _down_ at the gold pieces, the second one is missing. Is this normal? If so, how do I fix my webcam? Thanks...

Try your cam on a different computer-based on if it works or not-you should get your answer-sounds like you may need a new usb port-might be a good idea not to bring it in the shower with you-lol only kidding!!

First try it on another computer. If it works then at least you know that the camera is good. Then try another USB port that something else is using and working. I would completely un-install all the software and then re-install it again completely from scratch.

Try reinstalling the logitech software and updating you driver for your usb ports.

That's one thing you need.Plenty of light.Turn on your celling light.That's enough light for a web cam.Only way to show it is with light.No adjustments for that.
