Okay...So I've exhausted every other option. I've used the XP Reinstall CD...At the point of new "clean" reinstall, I'm given 3 choices:"-:Partition1 [FAT] 39MB(32 MB FREE);C:Partition2[NTFS] 238371MB(141552MB FREE);Unpartitoned Space 8MB" At this point,I don't know which choice to highlight...Also, should I delete any partition? Can anyone HELP!!!!

partition 2.

you *could* delete all partitions and then recreate it as one large ntfs partition which would reclaim most of that 39mb on partition 1 which is what i'd do (unless the 39mb partition is a backup partition holding drivers for your pc's hardware) - obviously all information on that hard drive would be completely wiped.

but if you don't want to do that you can just install straight onto partition 2 and keep the partitions as they are, however if you've nothing that needs saved on your windows partition i'd format it first before continuing the install.

C: but understand you lose everything on that partition, not completely true because there are still things you can recover but what is overwritten is lost.

And yes, make one partition of it because that 39 Mb and 8 Mb is of no use other ways.

In fact,I do recommend people to make at least 2 partitions, one which hold your Operating system and one for pictures-Music and so.

Why?

If you have to reinstall windows you would not have to back up all that stuff which makes reinstalling a lot less a hassle.

Since your disk is a big one I would do 60-40% or so,and you could also move your virtual memory to that other partition, which is almost for sure on a different platter so less seek time when your disk is busy looking for other stuff.

One more thing, you can always get one partition more by getting the program partitionMagic,it does the trick without losing any data!!!!

Oh yeah, many people reinstall windows but most people don't know anything about real!!!! cleaning, use a program which cleans your register and after that defrags that register,a lot less problems then and it makes your system much faster, most of the times no need to reinstall.

Partition 1 is the recovery partition created by teh computer vendor/manufacturer. Partition 2 is where Windows is instaleld and all of yoru personal files are. Unpartitioned space is just that...blank disc that is un-used. Delete all of them (assuming you dont mind losing whatever you have saved on your system) and create a single new partition using NTFS. You can do a quick format when promted. Its...uh...faster. The rest of teh reinstall will be pretty much automatic. YOu may need to choose a keyboard layout, time zone, computer name, administrator password etc. I suggest setting a good password for the administrator accoutn and creating a new basic user account for yourself. Use your own account for browsing etc and if you need to make cganges to the machine like installing software log on with the administrator acccount. This will help your ystem stay clean of malware.

Yes first delete all the partitions, and then create new partitions in the unpartitioned space, by giving the needed size. After that choose the uppermost partition to install windows on.

a million. placed XP CD in tension and restart your workstation. 2. Boot menu will appera asking you to press any key besides from CD 3. Press any key and shop on with the coaching 4. while asked to pick partition, pick C 5. it is all, homestead windows would be put in onto C tension and others will proceed to be un affected yet formerly formatting make certain you have: pics, Audio, LAN and different mandatory drivers on your motherboard.
