DVD Video is a standard. It is ceritfied and documented. All DVD Burns Burn the same quality discs. The only thing that would degrade the video quality is the encoding you do of the data.

For example ... If you rip & encode a DVD from 9.1GB to 4.7 (DVD-R/DVD+R standard) then it will be perfect quality. However if you take a file (say a Divx) and upconvert it you will not get the ful DVD quality as it was lost at the time the Divx was encoded.

You can however get a drive that extracts data faster, or writes faster, has litescribe, and those features are all that really will change the price.

Personally I have always ben a Plextor user. I have never had problems with their products or support. they have long been amoung the elite manufactures.

Any dvdburner is good as long as you stick with

the manufacturer's suggested blank dvd brand.

The better popular burners are Sony and Toshiba.

Get one that reads/writes at higher speeds.

First, you need to convert the .wmv file to .mpeg

(try "Arcsoft ShowBiz"...it came bundled with my dvdburner)

The reason to convert to .mpeg is because mpegs are

dvd-compliant.

Once converted, Arcsoft Showbiz will allow you to burn

your movie to dvd (my version of Showbiz creates

dvd without menus)...

Arcsoft Showbiz DVD, however, creates dvds WITH menus.

(I have this version, too)

Arcsoft Showbiz also converts avi's and some

VOB files (from dvds pre-dating 2001), too.

For other movie-editing/converting programs,

go to http://www.videohelp.com

and look through their Tools section.
