I have just bought a USB Chinese writepad from China. The software included is using Chinese characters as well and I installed it on my Windows XP English Version. But, instead showing Chinese characters, it shows ASCII codes/charaters on the apps & MS WORD, and it can't be understood at all. Is there any way to fix this problem? Is there an IME from Microsdoft to fix it? Ot, Is there any way to emulate the Chinese systems on English system?

you need to install the east asian language pack in order to read chinese. you can do so by performing the following steps:

1) go to control panel, Regional and Language Options, go to Languages, check the box Install files for East Asian Languages, click apply. you might be prompted to insert the windows setup disc.

2) come back to control panel, Regional and Langauge Options, go to Advanced.

3) under code page conversion tables, make sure all the codes related to chinese are checked.

4) under Language for non-Unicode programs select "Chinese (Taiwan)" from the dropped-down box.

5) click apply. you should be able to display chinese probably after a reboot.

use your winxp cd. go to control panel-date, time, language and regional options-regional and language options-languages (tab/window)-under supplemental language support click install file for east asian languages-click ok and you are done. the system will ask for winxp cd, make sure you got it.
