The PCI molex is 6-pin.

Both are correct cables. But just to reassure you, the Cable 2 is definitely is what you need.

Obviously make sure your PSU is able to handle your card when it is on full load.

Don't mean to be rude, but 7900GS also happens to be last century. Perhaps you need to look into rebuilding your PC. You don't need to spend a fortune either, just look at someone upgrading and grab yourself some second user stuff if your budget is tight.

I assume your seeking to energy a PCI express card and your vigour provide does not have a connector for it. Each connectors deliver +12v, so there quite often is an adapter available, but my guess is that you can buy the suitable energy supply and save your self alot of complications, to not point out saving yourself the concern of almost certainly frying your new PCI card

I'd go with this one, http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/3516123/117383064/PCI-E-PCI-Express-Graphics-Molex-Power-Cable/ListingDetails.html?searchstring=pci+express+power+cable&searchsource=0&searchtype=allproducts&urlrefer=search

"ut mine has a metal cage around it"

That won't make any difference, the cable, will plug in just fine.

look at the connector pins on the graphics card if its a 6 pin then you will need a 6 pin connector adapter to plug into your PSU. Its not gonna be a 8 pin connector cause that card looks outdated. You dont state what kind of PSU you have so im assuming cable one should work if not find out.
